Pulgas Ridge

On this beautiful sunny Sunday, D. and I visited Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve (btw, that's my pic up there on the preserve's web page, woot!).  Here are some of the pics I took.

Bermuda buttercups are in bloom all over the place.

Ravenswood Open Space Preserve

On a mostly cloudy and windy Saturday afternoon, D. and I spent some time at Ravenswood Open Space Preserve at the edge of San Francisco Bay, and I took these pics.

The preserve adjoins Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, which allows hunting. Sometimes.

Faber-Laumeister and Ravenswood Marshes

On Sunday D. and I got out for a little while to the marshes at the edge of San Francisco Bay. We went to the Faber-Laumeister Trail in the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, and from there on up to the Bay Trail in Ravenswood Open Space Preserve just to the north. Pulgas Water Temple

On New Year's Eve Day, D. and I went to the Pulgas Water Temple in Woodside, and we each took some pics. First, here's mine.

The Bay Area lacks sufficient groundwater and other local resources to support its large population, so water must be imported from other areas, via the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct.
